Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The province of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) was chosen as the most favorite halal tourist destination in the 2018 Republika Syariah Award (ASR), eliminating 13 other provinces.
Of the total votes entered during the week (30 October-5 November 2018), voting for NTB reached 38 percent, followed by Aceh (27 percent), and West Sumatra (23 percent).
In addition, other provinces which are also listed in the "Favorite Halal Voting Destinations" are West Java, Central Java, East Java, DI Yogyakarta, North Sumatra, Riau-Riau Islands, South Sulawesi, East Kalimantan, DKI Jakarta, Banten, and South Sumatra.
"The first category of favorite halal destination was held at ASR this year," said 2018 ASR Chair Elba Damhuri.
Last year, ASR only focused on awards for sharia financial industry players.
The awards include banking, non-banking finance, insurance industry, micro-macro industry, financial technology (fintech), finance companies, and sharia leaders.
The financial industry award category is divided into several levels. The Banking category is divided based on the number of assets (BUKU - business group commercial banks) so that it breaks into several awards. For insurance categories also divided based on business class.
The assessment criteria are based on quantitative data in the form of records of industrial performance during 2017 and first quarter performance 2018. Besides quantitative, also based on qualitative indicators such as services and public / consumer views.
The third assessment is based on the innovation that has been done. What are the breakthroughs that have been made that can be seen from the products owned and the activities held?
The fourth assessment included the elements of education and socialization, whether the Islamic finance industry in the country was intensively conducting socialization and education, inviting the public to know, understand, and eventually become their customers.
The Jury consists of sharia economists, Islamic jurisprudence experts, and the internal jury of Republika. For economists, the Jurisdiction Council Sunarsip and its expert, Dr. Oni Sahroni, are also active in the National Sharia Council (DSN).
On that occasion, Editor-in-Chief of Republika, Irfan Junaedi, said that Republika plans to hold a Syariah Award every year.
He hopes that this event can contribute positively to the advancement of Islamic economics in the country, one of which is the halal industry. According to Irfan, Indonesia has all the potential to advance the halal industry both from the tourism sector, food, fashion, cosmetics, to the creative economy.
